Last week, a high school student signed with RCS Construction during the Associated General Contractors of South Dakota/Western Dakota Tech Career Academy signing ceremony. Five high school students signed with local contractors to work this summer. The program allows students to earn money while learning about the construction industry and earn college credits.
In 2001, at the age of 27, Chad Hymas’ life changed in an instant when a 2,000-pound bale of hay shattered his neck, leaving him a quadriplegic.
But Chad’s dreams were not paralyzed that day—he became an example of what is possible. Chad is a best-selling author, motivational speaker, president of his own communications company, and recognized world-class wheelchair athlete.
RCS Construction was lucky enough to have had Chad speak about staying safe on and off the job-site to work safely and effectively.
Fort Hays cut the ribbon on its buffalo hunt coaster on Friday, April, 23rd. A crowd comprised of members of Elevate Rapid City, residents, and even Nugget from the Rush showed their excitement and support for the opening.
The roller coaster portion of the ride opened last October for a short time; now it’s open all the way with the hunting aspect.
The ride will be open on nice weather weekends leading to Mother’s Day, and then seven days a week through September and weather permitting in October.
Happy Friday! This Christmas season we decided to have a small gathering rather than our typical Christmas party. We celebrated Dale Hansen with 20 years of recognition, Todd Srstka with 15 years of recognition, and our two employees of the year are Ronnie Hufstutler and Evan Walterman. We are grateful to still be able to share our holiday spirit!
It has been five years in the making and the Buffalo Hunt coaster at Fort Hays Chuckwagon is finally open. RCS Construction began our portion of this project in March of 2020. The coaster will run through Halloween, after that the closing date is up to mother nature.

The “Buffalo Hunt” ride is scheduled to be up and running by mid-July. Riders will soar over statues of a buffalo herd, and shoot LED targets that will light up. The interactive attraction is a great activity for the entire family!
The Fort Hays Buffalo Hunt will be open this summer. The project includes two chairs that will be hanging beneath an overhead track where riders will swoop and fly over buffalo targets.
Check out this short clip of our Business Development Manager, Joe Hockett, speaking a little bit about the 2020 Heart Ball. RCS is proud to sponsor such an amazing cause: fighting our #1 killer.
We partnered with South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks for Trout on two projects. See page 18 of the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Summer 2019 Conservation Digest at https://www.flipsnack.com.
Here are some of the progress photos from our Baldwin Street Reconstruction project on the West side of town. They paved a good portion of Baldwin Street early last week and it turned out awesome! We are definitely getting there!
